[test] Add ASCII art showing what dependency graph is being tested.

Also, briefly describe the art in a README file, as well as how the
tests are set up.

Also, rename the "simple" test graph to "independent".

No functionality change, no new tests. One tiny tweak to the private-after
test that should not change what is being tested.
